What Are the Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry?

Our cosmetic services will help restore your confidence and self-esteem. Issues like stained, small, uneven, or misshapen teeth can make you feel self-conscious and hold you back from smiling, laughing, and even speaking. After cosmetic treatment, you won’t feel the need to hide your smile. Additionally, cosmetic dentistry can help you take better care of your teeth because if you’re proud of your smile, you’re more likely to maintain proper oral hygiene.

How Does Take-Home Teeth Whitening Work?

If you want to brighten your smile and enhance the natural beauty of your enamel, we offer take-home whitening. Treatment involves creating a set of custom-fitted whitening trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. Our dentist in Holden will also provide you with professional whitening agents which you will apply to the trays according to his instructions. In most cases, you’ll wear your trays for about an hour per day for 2-3 weeks. Once your treatment is complete, your smile will be bright and beautiful again!

Can Bonding, Shaping, & Contouring Improve My Appearance?

Dental bonding uses a special type of dental resin to reshape and restore your teeth. This is a painless, minimally-invasive solution for patients who are unhappy with the color or shape of their teeth. After Dr. Khanani applies dental resin to the surface of the tooth, he will sculpt and shape it until it looks and feels natural.

Shaping & contouring (also called “enameloplasty”) are treatments that are commonly used alongside bonding. This involves gently buffing away a thin layer of enamel from surrounding teeth to approve the overall shape and appearance of your smile.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are designed to fit over your teeth, much like a dental crown, and replace the front chewing surface with a bright, white porcelain material. This means veneers can cover up most cosmetic flaws, including stains, gaps, uneven, or slightly-crooked teeth. Veneers are extremely durable and versatile, and they are often the best choice if you want to cover up multiple cosmetic issues at once.

What to Expect At Your Cosmetic Dentistry Appointment

At your cosmetic dental appointment, Dr. Khanani will consult with you to examine the health and condition of your teeth and gums. Any detected oral health problems will need to be treated before you can move forward with cosmetic treatment. Severe damage to the teeth may also require more intensive restorative treatment.

Dr. Khanani will discuss your cosmetic goals and concerns with you to formulate a treatment plan that addresses any cosmetic imperfections with your teeth in the least invasive and budget-friendly way. He will discuss cost, scheduling, and sedation options with you.

Next, we will move forward with the first stage of the treatment. Depending on the treatment, we may need to take impressions of your teeth or use a shade guide to match the shade of your natural teeth to your restorations.

Your treatment may take one or a few appointments and this will be discussed during the treatment plan phase. After we’ve completed the cosmetic treatment, we will provide you with aftercare instructions

Am I A Good Candidate For Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment?

Anyone who is concerned with the appearance of their smile, or is in good oral and overall health, and does not have severe damage to their teeth is a great candidate for cosmetic dental treatment. Any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or tooth infections will rule you out for cosmetic dentistry at least until these problems are resolved.

When teeth have been severely damaged, eroded, or broken, this will require a durable and strong restoration like a dental crown. While we can correct minor damage and orthodontic problems with cosmetic treatments, when these problems are severe you should undergo orthodontic treatment or restorative dentistry.

There is sometimes an overlap between cosmetic and restorative dentistry. For example, dental crowns restore the health and strength of a tooth to prevent it from breaking but we can also provide you with highly aesthetic tooth-colored crowns fabricated out of porcelain, ceramic, or zirconia. This provides you with the best of both worlds.

What Dental Issues Can Cosmetic Dentistry Solve?

The most common cosmetic issues that are solved by cosmetic dentistry include tooth discoloration, minor chips & cracks, enamel erosion, slightly crooked teeth, small gaps, teeth that are awkwardly shaped, too small, or too sharp, and asymmetrical.

We can replace unsightly silver amalgam fillings with tooth-colored composite fillings or replace metal crowns with porcelain or porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. We can also replace missing teeth with dental implants, bridges, or dentures to restore your smile.

Many of our cosmetic treatments are versatile in that they can address a wide range of problems. Most of our cosmetic treatments can correct tooth discoloration, multiple treatments can radically transform the size and shape of the teeth, and tooth contouring can be paired with our treatments to create the ideal tooth aesthetic. So happy that Dr. Waterfall chose Dr. Khanani to take over the practice when he retired. Dr. Khanani is a top-notch dentist with an old world bedside manner. He always shows the utmost concern for a patient’s comfort and called me in the evening after getting a crown put in last winter and after an emergency visit recently to repair a broken tooth  I would highly recommend Dr. Khanani and his friendly and caring staff. If you are looking for a new dentist you won’t find a better one in the area!

"Dr. Khanani recently fixed a cavity for me and the whole experience was a breeze.  Upon completing the work Dr. Khanani insisted that I call if I have any questions or concerns.  He even followed up with a phone call and text message that evening to make sure that I was pain free.  I can tell that Dr. Khanani is very passionate about his work and I would highly recommend Khanani Family Dental."
