Digital X-Rays

Importance of Dental X-Rays
What Digital X-Rays Can Detect
Abscesses or cysts
Bone loss
Cancerous and non-cancerous tumors
Decay between teeth
Developmental abnormalities
Poor tooth and root positioning
Issues within a tooth or beneath the gumline
Are Digital X-Rays Safe?
Everyone is exposed to natural environmental radiation daily, but digital X-rays produce significantly lower radiation levels than traditional X-rays. This technology is not only safer for patients but also faster and more comfortable, reducing time spent in the dental office. Since images are captured electronically, there is no need for film development, eliminating the disposal of harmful chemicals and reducing environmental impact.
Although digital X-rays are considered very safe, necessary precautions are taken to further minimize radiation exposure. These include using lead aprons for protection and taking only the essential X-rays needed for diagnosis.
How Often Should Dental X-Rays Be Taken?
New Patients – A full-mouth series of X-rays is typically recommended for new patients and remains valid for three to five years.
Routine Check-Ups – Bite-wing X-rays (showing top and bottom teeth together) are commonly taken once or twice a year to detect new dental concerns.
