As the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak begins to slow, many dentists in Massachusetts are reopening, including Khanani Family Dental. But you may be wondering if it’s really safe to see the dentist during COVID-19. Rest assured that we’re taking every possible step to keep you safe and comfortable during this difficult time. Read on, and learn more about the precautions we’re taking to keep our patients and our staff members safe.
You will be contacted by email or text at least 24 hours before your appointment, and asked to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire. You’ll just need to answer a few basic questions about whether you’ve been in contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19, whether you’ve traveled recently, and if you have exhibited any symptoms (fever, dry cough, shortness of breath) that could indicate infection.
Our waiting room is temporarily closed for your safety, and we ask that you come alone to your appointment unless you require the help of a caretaker for getting in or out of our dental office.
You can remain in your car when you arrive at our office for our appointment, and call or text our dental team to check in from the comfort of your vehicle. When we’re ready for your appointment, we’ll simply give you a call and ask you to come in.
All of our staff members and dental team members will be wearing masks. For your protection and our protection, we ask that you please wear a mask prior to entering the office.
Before you are seen by the dental team at Khanani Family Dental, we will use a touchless thermometer to take your temperature and ensure that it’s normal. You’ll also be asked to use hand sanitizer to clean your hands before your appointment.
Our dental team is wearing more PPE than usual, including eye protection, N95 masks, and face shields, as well as shoe coverings, head covers, and gowns when required. We are wearing this additional gear for your protection.
All disposable used PPE will be properly disposed of in the room where you were treated, and reusable equipment will be left in place until it can be sterilized for re-use. Leaving PPE in the operatory where it was used helps greatly reduce the risk of patient cross-contamination.
We have implemented multiple medical-grade HEPA air purifiers in our Holden dental office, which remove and destroy 99.97% of all airborne particles to ensure your safety at our office. These purifiers have been placed in operatories and throughout our office to provide our staff and patients with healthier air.
We understand if you’re concerned about coming to the dentist during COVID-19. But Dr. Khanani and our dental team are doing everything they can to keep you safe, and ensure you can still get access to the preventive dental care you need for a healthy mouth. So if you want to schedule an appointment or you have other questions about visiting our office during COVID-19, feel free to contact us online or give us a call.
