Digital X-Rays

Importance of Dental X-Rays
What Digital X-Rays Can Detect
Abscesses or cysts
Bone loss
Cancerous and non-cancerous tumors
Decay between teeth
Developmental abnormalities
Poor tooth and root positioning
Issues within a tooth or beneath the gumline
Are Digital X-Rays Safe?
Digital X-rays are much safer than traditional X-rays, as they emit significantly lower levels of radiation. In addition to being safer for patients, they are faster and more comfortable, making the process more efficient and less time-consuming. Since the images are captured electronically, there's no need for film development, which helps reduce environmental waste from chemicals.
While digital X-rays are already safer, we take extra precautions to minimize radiation exposure. This includes using lead aprons for added protection and ensuring that we only take the necessary X-rays for a thorough diagnosis.
How Often Should Dental X-Rays Be Taken?
New Patients – A full-mouth series of X-rays is typically recommended for new patients and remains valid for three to five years.
Routine Check-Ups – Bite-wing X-rays, which show the top and bottom teeth together, are typically taken once or twice a year to help detect any new dental concerns.
